Feature film · 2020 · Paula Abdul as herself
EXPLORE THE COMPLETE STORY ↓Overview
The hidden-camera hit Impractical Jokers came to the big screen on February 21, 2020. Directed by Chris Henchy, Impractical Jokers: The Movie combines a scripted road-trip comedy with the outrageous real-world challenges that made the truTV series a fan favorite.
Paula Abdul plays herself in the film, appearing as a central part of the fictional framing story that sends the four Jokers on their adventure.
Paula Abdul’s Role
The story begins with a fictionalized incident at a Paula Abdul concert in the 1990s involving four teenage fans: Joe Gatto, Sal Vulcano, James Murray and Brian Quinn. Years later, when the four comedians unexpectedly cross paths with Paula again, she invites them to a special event in Miami.
There is a catch: Paula hands them three VIP passes for four people. The competition to decide who gets left behind launches a succession of increasingly absurd hidden-camera challenges. It is a playful, fictional encounter built around Paula’s actual fame, rather than a documentary account of an event that occurred.
