The American Idol publicity machine cranks on.
The Washington Post reports that Idol is going to donate the chairs used by the three judges -- Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, each autographed by the respective judge -- to various charity auctions.
Paula's chair will be auctioned by a Michigan branch of the American Cancer Society on August 22.
Randy's chair will be auctioned by Chicago's "The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation" on an undetermined date. Simon's chair ... well, it's being held in reserve right now while Simon picks a charity other than himself.
While we can understand why people might want these seats, we think Idol has only begun to scratch the surface of the possible auctions.
Just think: Clay's hairbrush ... Ryan's mistaken cue card ... Justin Guarini's mirror ... the possibilities are endless.
