Hollywood cheering Abdul's new moves Paula Abdul, best known for such upbeat tunes as "Straight Up" and "Forever Your Girl", must have a hidden dark side.
The singer/choreographer mapped the dance steps for the pivotal cheerleader routine in the black comedy "American Beauty", a biting satire on American suburban life.
"(Director) Sam Mendes wanted to work with me because he thought my sensibilities would be right for the film," Abdul says. The scene is not her best work- but that's by design, she says.
