In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Avon Foundation for Women launched a powerful new call to action - #CheckYourself - featuring the release of a new music video created with and led by Paula Abdul.
Check Yourself is a global movement that aims to raise awareness and start conversations about how women and men can take action for their own breast health through screening, detection and treatment. Screening guidelines vary by country and media reports about early detection can sometimes be confusing.
This campaign is intended to help you better understand some of the common factors that can influence your personal breast cancer risk, and teach you not only about your risk, but also what actions you can take starting today!

#CheckYourself aims to cut to cut through the confusion related to screening strategies and encourages women to take control of their own breast health with three simple steps: Know Your Risks. Know Your Body. Talk To Your Doctor.
#CheckYourself is the latest step in the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, which raises funds and awareness for critical research and access to care programs.
The key to prevention is knowing how to protect yourself, and early detection remains incredibly important. Women should be aware of their family’s health history, perform routine self-exams and visit a doctor annually. Women over 40 should have a mammogram performed by their doctor.

“Singing and dancing are my passions. I am thrilled and inspired to have had the opportunity to apply these passions to create a new music video in support of the breast cancer awareness cause, and the new global #CheckYourself for Breast Cancer campaign is very personal for me,” said Paula Abdul.
Paula says, “My sister Wendy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. As a breast cancer survivor and champion for the cause, she inspires me every day. My hope is that this new video will inspire women and men to take charge of their own breast health through screening, detection, and treatment.”

Check Yourself
Be strong. Live beautiful.
I want to talk to all the ladies in the world
About breast cancer
So many questions and a lot to learn
But I’ve got some answers
First, find out the risks
In family and do you have kids?
Meds, and things you’ve been close to
Also could be factors
Be strong. Live beautiful. (hey hey)
Calling everybody to protect yourself
Just check yourself
Ch-check yourself
Be strong. Live beautiful. (yeah)
Tellin’ all my girls to protect your health
Just check yourself
Ch-check yourself
Ch-check yourself (4x)
You gotta know how to check yourself
Just listen to me
Keep on lookin’ for those lumps and bumps
Girls it’s just that easy
L-L-Ladies need a clinical exam
Over 40- gotta get a mammogram
At 50- go once a year
Be brave and bold and healthy
Be strong. Live beautiful. (hey hey)
Calling everybody to protect yourself
Just check yourself
Ch-check yourself
Be strong. Live beautiful. (ooh yeah)
Tellin’ all my girls to protect your health
Just check yourself
Ch-check yourself
Yea – ooh
Oh yea
Come on’
Be strong. Live beautiful.
Check yourself - you’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
Be strong. Live beautiful.
Check yourself - you’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You make it beautiful.
