Paula Abdul has filed an invasion of privacy lawsuit against a diet juice promoter that she claims wrongfully used her name in magazine ads.

The use of Abdul's name in ads for the Hollywood 48-Hour Miracle Diet suggested the singer endorsed, needed or used the diet, said her attorney, Barbara Berkowitz.

The ads appeared in Vanity Fair and Cosmopolitan and read: "Stars like
Paula Abdul . . . have been rushed this amazing juice formula by the diet juice guru himself, James Kabler."

Abdul seeks more than $1 million for libel, invasion of privacy and violation of her right to control her own publicity, Berkowitz said.

Messages left for Kabler were not immediately returned.
