KYLIE TURNS BACK ON MEN / SYDNEY CONFIDENTIAL.
DAILY TELEGRAPH (AUSTRALIA) - 4/26/00
By PETER HOLDER and JO CASAMENTO.
KYLIE Minogue, who has been more interested in cultivating a career as a B-grade movie star, is about to return to what she knows best - pumping out pop songs. The Budgie, who is appearing with fellow Henderson Kid Ben Mendelsohn in Sample People, has recorded what can only be described as a man-bashing tune, written by former 80's pop queen Paula Abdul.
Kylie is pinning her hopes on the song as a way of breaking into the so-far elusive US market.
The lyrics are based on Abdul's bitter split from ex-husband Brad Beckerman, whom she met on a blind date, married in 1996 and divorced 17 months later. You wanted me as your little wife, but this girl's strong and no he-man can run her life. And so here it is for you baby, I'm laying down the law. It's over, you're going, you're heading out that door. No talking, you're walking, cos I don't love you any more."
