Paula Abdul out to reignite recording career, thanks to 'American Idol'
By Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith
Paula Abdul's out to make the most of her "American Idol" resurgence.
Pop's It Girl of the late '80s/early '90s has been busy in studio, recording songs in anticipation of making a new record deal. At the same time, pretty Paula's been having talks with various record industry execs toward that end.
Abdul's last album, "Head Over Heels," came out in 1995, garnering such disappointing reaction it showed her once-hot career had gone cold. Since then, she's had at least two other albums in the works, but they didn't come together - perhaps because the singer / dancer / choreographer / actress was distracted by personal woes, including her failed marriage to entrepreneur Brad Beckerman.
In addition to her choreography and occasional acting gigs, Paula continued to write songs, even while sidelined as a recording artist.
