Paula Abdul has signed with
ICM Partners, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.
The pop star-turned-reality judge will next serve on the panel of Fox’s
So You Think You Can Dance, whose 12th season premieres in June, after serving as head judge on the format’s Australian version. She was, of course, Simon Cowell’s original foil on
American Idol and after eight seasons left to launch
CBS’ Live to Dance. She returned to Fox in 2011 to judge one season of
The X Factor.
Abdul was discovered by the industry after flaunting her talents as a Laker Girl, and her 1989 debut,
Forever Your Girl, went multi-platinum on the strength of single “
Straight Up.” That was the first of that album’s four No. 1 singles, which also included “
Opposites Attract,” whose MC Skat Kat-featuring music video won Abdul a Grammy. She also has won Emmys for choreographing The Tracey Ullman Show and the 1990 American Music Awards.
Abdul’s recent partnerships include the Sprint-exclusive shopping app
StarShop and the arts education program
Turnaround Arts.
