PAULA ABDUL concedes ratings for So You Think You Can Dance didn’t get off to a strong start but believes they’ll lift as viewers invest in the show.
“I don’t think anyone ever expects a show they are passionate about to not do extremely well in ratings,” Abdul told the Confidential on Nova radio show last night.
“We didn't get the luxury of starting with a good timeslot so people didn’t really know that the show was even on but slowly but surely we are picking up because we are on a new night and I think that critic acclaim has been wonderful.
“People who do see the show are in love with the show.”
Abdul, a former American Idol judge, said it is a privilege to be a part of the Channel 10 reality TV series.
“It is a special show and it is wonderful to see people living their dream,” she said.
“That’s what I love about doing shows like this, you get to be helpful in setting a platform for contestants to leave a legacy.”
When asked whether she is considering Australian citizenship, she quipped “Absolutely, and I am going to say, “Good on ya.”
