Renowned dancer, choreographer, pop singer and American Idol judge Paula Abdul, and David Kirsch, wellness guru and celebrity fitness trainer kicked-off The Gillette Company's Passion Pink Venus "Legs of a Goddess" contest today -- a nationwide search to find the woman with the best legs in America. The contest celebrates the launch of the new Passion Pink Venus razor for women.

   The search began with today's competition in South Beach with local women invited to walk the runway and "strike a pose" for judges David Kirsch, whose celebrity clients include Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell and Liv Tyler, and Grace Puc from Next Model Management. The judges were looking for shapely and toned legs and a confident and enthusiastic attitude. Paula Abdul was on-hand to kick-off the contest and encourage the contestants.

More than 50 women competed for cash and a Passion Venus prize package, plus the chance to advance to the finals. The national winner of the Legs of a Goddess contest will receive a vintage, pink Cadillac convertible, and the chance to appear in a Venus commercial. Mara Degenhardt of Miami Beach was named the local winner in today's competition.

   "The contest is a fun way to show women that they don't need to be supermodels to have great legs," said Nancy Teumer, Business Director, female shaving, The Gillette Company. "With regular exercise, proper diet and the right tools - including our new Passion Pink Venus razor - any woman can feel like a goddess."

-- Friday, June 20, Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta; registration from 1-2pm; contest at 2pm 

-- Friday, June 27, Mall of America, Minneapolis; registration from 1-2pm; contest at 2pm 

-- Friday, July 11, North Avenue Beach, Chicago; registration from 1-2pm; contest at 2pm 

-- Friday, July 18, Taste of West End, Dallas; registration from 1-2pm; contest at 2pm 

-- Friday, July 25, Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica; registration from 1-2pm; contest at 2pm 

-- Friday, August 1, Mission Beach, San Diego; registration from 1-2pm; contest at 2pm 

-- Friday, August 8, Harbor Place, Baltimore; registration from 1-2pm; contest at 2pm 

-- Friday, August 15, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Boston; registration from 1-2pm; contest at 2pm 

In each local event, one winner will be selected to advance to the finals. 

An additional finalist will be selected from mail-in entries. Women can enter by picking up a form at the Passion Venus "Revelation Station," which will be touring the country this summer or by printing out an entry form at www.gillettevenus.com. "Legs of a Goddess" and "Revelation Station" venues and cities are also featured on the Web site.

Gillette for Women Passion Venus is available to consumers in North America, Europe and select international markets in food, drug, convenience and mass merchandise stores.
