Ten: Rumours about Paula Abdul’s diva antics are all made up

WITH American divas, one often gets a fair amount of high drama but the Ten Network has been quick to hose down reports its big international import Paula Abdulhas been unhappy with hair and make-up artists during her current Australian visit.

Whispers to Confidential that Abdul, a judge on Ten’s So You Think You Can Dance, had been going through hair and make-up artists at a rate of knots since touching down in Australia were robustly denied by the network yesterday.
“Network Ten can confirm that no hairstylist working on So You Think You Can Dance Australia has been fired,” a network spokeswoman said.
“Network Ten, for all productions, employs a variety of freelance make-up artists and hair stylists to work on a rotational basis. This is to ensure that looks and styles remain fresh and unique.”
This ran counter to claims Abdul had parted ways with two hairstylists and two make-up artists since joining the cast of the Australian production.
Sources at Ten said, contrary to the rumours, the US choreographer, dancer and songwriter had been “looking forward” to using Australian talent while in the country and was not averse to mixing up the artisans with whom she worked.
“She always likes to mix things up and keep her look fresh, so she likes to use different people,” one said.
Among leading make-up artists employed to attend to Abdul, a former American Idol judge and LA Lakers cheerleader, during her stay in Sydney were two of Australia’s best — Rae Morris and Craig Beaglehole.
Meanwhile, Abdul this week confirmed she would be stretching her wings with an acting role during her Australian trip, recording a cameo appearance on Neighbours.
“I remember watching Neighbours when I was in England in the 1980s,” she said.
“I thought it was a lot of fun, and for it to still be popular after nearly 30 years is an amazing achievement.”
