Paula Abdul is no stranger to award shows, but she was particularly excited to be a part of Teen Choice 2006. "My teen fans are the best, and I adore them," the
American Idol judge tells TeenPeople.com. "It was such a fantastic event, and one that I loved being a part of." With such an enthusiastic endorsement, we asked Paula to give us her thoughts on the night's noteworthy moments:
Running into Zac Efron on the red carpet:
"Zac is a sweetheart. He is certainly the most talented young, up-and-coming talent [out there]. I'm so happy for the kids of
High School Musical. I adore them all -- the film is fantastic!"
Rihanna's performance:
"It was absolutely amazing. She's very talented. Rihanna and I spoke after the show, and she told me that her number was inspired by my choreography for the 1990 American Music Awards, which I received an Emmy for. She's very sweet."
Jessica's joke that Paula might not date Dane Cook because he's "not a contestant" (referring to the Corey Clark scandal):
"I'm the first one to poke fun at myself, but it's not so funny when such a joke comes from the same network that
American Idol is on. The joke's been done, and it's old. Next!"
Kevin Federline's performance, introduced by Britney Spears:
"Britney looked beautiful and happy, and so proud of her husband, Kevin. I'm very happy for them both, and I wish Kevin the best on his musical journey."
Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom on stage together:
"Muy caliente!"
Dane offering skinny Mischa Barton a sandwich:
"Not so funny. It's clear that she's a naturally thin girl, so it just seemed a bit cruel, you know?"
Nick Lachey saying it was "awkward" to accept Choice Love Song on a show Jessica was hosting:
"Yes, it was very awkward! But he kept his sense of humor during a time when he needed it most."
Jessica's many costume changes:
"She looked beautiful. Jessica is a trendsetter for sure!"
Presenting the Choice Rock Band award to Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump:
"Pete and Patrick are great guys! They actually told me that they'd downloaded [my 1990 hit] '
Opposites Attract' to their iPod earlier that day!"
Brooke Hogan accepting the Choice Grill award:
"Now THAT was hilarious!"
